NYC Candidates to File Disclosure Statements Ahead of Important 2021 Fundraising Deadline

07/14/2020

All candidates running for city office in 2020 and 2021 are required to submit campaign finance disclosure statements to the NYC Campaign Finance Board (CFB) by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15. These disclosure statements will include details about each campaign's financial activity through July 11, 2020.

There are currently 210 candidates registered to run in 2021 as more continue to register each day. This is well ahead of the pace at which candidates registered in the two previous citywide elections of 2017 and 2013.

This week's deadline is important because it determines if candidates are eligible to receive $8-to-$1 public matching funds in the initial round of payments for the 2021 election cycle set to go out in December 2020. There will be seven additional opportunities to qualify for matching funds prior to the primary elections in June.

In order to quality for public matching funds, candidates must abide by the rules of the program, and meet the two-part fundraising threshold

The CFB will update the Campaign Finance Summary for the 2021 elections on a rolling basis as statements are received. These updates will be reflected in the Follow the Money database as well.
