We run the city’s matching funds program, which matches every $1 from a local donor with up to $8 of city funding, encouraging city candidates to focus on their communities instead of special interests. Through our NYC Votes initiative, we aim to build a greater understanding of the electoral process for all New Yorkers by having an honest dialogue about how our elections work and why they matter, with a special focus on empowering New Yorkers who are less likely to vote.”

New York City residency is required for most positions. Pursuant to Department of Citywide Administrative Services Commissioner’s Directive No. 2020-2 (concerning the Recruitment of Personnel During the Covid-19 Crisis), New York City residency must be obtained within six months after Emergency Executive Order No.98 is rescinded. If that time period has passed, residency must be obtained within 90 days of the start date.
